Strip Quilt and Burp Rags

Our friends just had a baby in January. We are going to see them this week so I decided it was time to make something for the baby. I knew I wanted to make a strip quilt that my SIL Angela had on her blog. I also found some really cute rag burp clothes that I wanted to give a try ( I used my own burp cloth pattern). It probably would have been done in about 2 hours, but since I'm a little special it took more like 5 or 6. I got nearly done with the blanket (I only had 2 pieces left to sew on) when I heard a SNAP! Then my wheel on the sewing machine wouldn't turn. Apparently I snapped a piece on the inside of the dang thing so my sewing machine is done. I called my mom ( who else do you call in times of sewing emergency?) to see if I could use her sewing machine. Well, her's doesn't work either. Dang! I then called my mom's best friend and asked if I could borrow her's. Thank goodness Sharon's a nice woman! She brought it down to me and showed me how to work it. Finally the blanket was done and I could start the burp rags. Luckily there wasn't any drama with those (excluding the part where I had to unpick half of one). I really hope Emily and Baby Dean love them.

*Sorry about the not so great pictures. I only have a point and shoot camera*
